Most of us, if not all of us have a desire in our lives to be successful in life. Our cultural environments will lead us to believe that we can all have success and be successful in every area of our lives. Some people would lead us to believe that the opportunity to become an overnight success is available to everyone given the right set of circumstances. More often than not, the success we have in life is determined by the choices we make as a result of the circumstances we face.
Success can be defined as ‘The accomplishment of an aim or purpose’ and as Christians we can define success as ‘The ability to live out the plan and purpose of God in our lives, to live our lives in purpose and on purpose.’
After the death of Moses God called Joshua to lead the Israelites and said these words
“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Successful living is the product of knowledge, obedience, focus and courage.
Knowing God,Obeying God, Focusing on God and Believing God are the foundational steps to Success!
As Children’s Ministry leaders, we’re always looking for great resources. As part of my personal commitment to maximize the potential of this site, I have decided to introduce regular resource giveaways. These resources will be items that I would personally recommend to compliment any #kidmin kit.
This weeks give away is a copy of the book ‘Leading your Child to Jesus’ by David Staal.
As #kidmin leaders we are constantly on the look out for great resources to equip parents to disciple their kids. Leading your kids to Jesus does exactly that, it will equip parents with the simple, effective communication skills that will help them discuss salvation with their children.

As a #kidmin leader I love to play games, I love be involved in games and I love to see kids having fun in the presence of God. For the last year or so, we have been playing a variety of minute to win it games. If you are not familiar with the games, NBC have a show n which contestants are given a task in which they have a minute to complete, hence the name ‘minute to win it’. A lot of these games require little or no set up and will work at any event you are hosting.
Congratulations to Mr Robert Shepard. A copy of the Sue Miller and David Staal book ‘Making your Children’s Ministry the Best Hour of Every Week’ will be in the post to you very soon.
May God bless you, inspire you and equip you in all that he has called you to do.
Tim
Picture the scene, it’s Sunday morning, you’ve been preparing all week for what you believe is going to be a great Sunday, your sermon is good to go, your small group leaders are prepped and ready, you have everything you believe you need for it to be a great day at Kids Church. You arrive at your building, your pumped, your phone rings and its your worship leader calling you to let you know they are unable to make it, you try and find a replacement but are unsuccessful.
What do you do ???????? YOU DECIDE TO DO IT YOURSELF.
If you are going to be a Worship Leader here are a few suggestions that you might want to think about, the next time you find yourself in the position.
1. Be a worshiper yourself – The best way to teach kids to worship is to show them how to worship with your life. Children will always do what they see. Model authentic worship to them as you connect to God.
2. Be passionate – Children will always recognize passion. If you want your children to be passionate about the things that you are passionate about, show them your passion.
3. Sing – We should never expect our kids to do anything that we are not prepared to do ourselves. Children will feel a lot more comfortable singing, if they know you are singing with them.
4. Make eye contact – Children like to feel a connection with their leaders. Eye contact allows us to do that.
5. Explain what Worship is – When children understand the process of worship and what happens when we worship, it allows them to fully participate in the act of worship.

To kick things off I have got a copy of the Sue Miller and David Staal book ‘Making your Children’s Ministry the Best Hour of Every Week’
Christine Yount, Executive Director, Children’s Ministry Magazine said this about the book ” The dream is possible and promising! If you’ve dreamed of a children’s ministry where children beg to come to church, applying the principles from this book will make your dream come true!”

THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MONDAY 9TH JANUARY 2012
With the weight of expectation, poor attendance and a lack of resources, volunteers and support, Sunday mornings for a lot of #kidmin leaders can be an exceptionally stressful and busy time. A lot of #kidmin leaders are expected to be a jack of all trades, juggling a lot of balls in the air whilst having a smile on their face. They are asked to be worship leaders, teachers, entertainers, small group leaders, large group leaders, games masters, activity co-ordinators and I’m sure the list could go on. It’s an all too familiar story and we all either know someone or at least know of some one who is that position or maybe even its you, maybe you are in that position.
Over the next few posts, I hope to in some way inspire you if you are in that position or if you know someone who is in that position. I hope to in some way tackle some of the issues you are facing and equip you with the skills you need to get you through the period of waiting you must go through to get the help you so desperately want.
I will kick off the series with a post on ‘Becoming a Worship Leader’
